Dr. Christopher Cheshire

As you can imagine, we get a lot of questions about what acupuncture is and how does it works. Below are a few of our frequently asked questions to Dr. Cheshire. Have more questions? Leave a comment below.

Question: Why does acupuncture work for pain?

Answer: One of the great things about acupuncture is there is no one way to treat, so each treatment is customized to the individual’s needs. Acupuncture lengths muscles, increases blood flow, and releases natural pain killers. So after a series of treatments, inflammation decreases and your body can begin to repair itself.

Question: Do you use new needles each time or do you sterilize old needles?

Answer: We never reuse needles. The needles we use are disposable, sterile, and always new each treatment.

Question: Do you only treat pain?

Answer: Though orthopedic and sports medicine are my specialty, I see patients for many other ailments, such as digestion, anxiety, and eczema. If you struggle with something that isn’t pain and want to see if acupuncture might help, I always suggest giving us a call to set up a consultation.

I read through your website and convinced my father to utilize your services for neuropathy. I also asked him to seek your advice in steering away from pharmaceuticals like statins and diabetes meds.
I left a message with your receptionist and may have missed your call back.
My father’s diet isn’t perfect but he does include a significant amount of vegetables. Where he lacks is exercise!
I know he doesn’t care to live out the rest of his days on meds and constantly chasing side effects like dizziness!
If there is a protocol you recommend for weening off meds with herbal support and acupuncture, that’d be most welcome advice.

    Thank you!
